Charly Meehan: Accredited Reflexologist and specialist in oncology and palliative care.

I take an integrated approach to supporting my clients to improve their health and wellbeing in ways that are realistic and achievable in the context of their individual lifestyles, bodies, minds and circumstances.

Becoming a complementary therapist was inspired by my passion for empowering people with tools and information to safeguard their health, wellbeing, fitness and resilience; especially people living and working in high-pressure environments.

Having worked for fifteen years in target-driven roles in the charity and commercial sectors, I have experience of living with high stress-levels and a constant pressure to be achieving and balancing competing priorities, regarding this as an exciting and fulfilling part of normal life. Gradually becoming aware of the toll it can take, I decided to retrain in order to work with people of similar mindset: to support and empower them to balance their demanding lifestyles with maintaining better health.

Reflexology had an unexpectedly profound effect on my wellbeing. It was one of the few ways I found I could achieve mental relaxation as well as relief from the physical tension accumulated through exercise and from hours working at a desk and on screens. Today, in my professional practice, I see the impact of this incredible complementary therapy every day, and with every client: helping them to manage stress levels, improve health and help the body and mind to function in a more balanced way.

A holistic, compassionate and realistic approach to health and wellbeing

I work with clients through a range of services including reflexology, facial reflexology and bespoke healthy lifestyle support and coaching both for day-to-day wellbeing and during times of significant personal or professional change. At the heart of my purpose is making balance and better health, fitness and wellbeing accessible and achievable to every client as an individual, within the context of their own lives and circumstances.

I take a clinical approach, seeing reflexology and complementary therapies in the context of broader integrated personalised care: alongside other avenues of medical and therapeutic support. I attend conferences and seminars on a range of healthcare and medical topics, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide informed, integrated support.

Why Colibrí?

Colibrí is the Spanish word for hummingbird. The only bird able to fly backwards as well as forwards, it is known for resilience and adaptability. In the legends of many South and Central American countries, it is also seen as a "tiny healer", bringing love and wellbeing.

The speed at which the hummingbird beats its tiny wings is phenomenal: an embodiment of energy. Yet they are also known as bringers of serenity and calm.

The bird is also symbolic of my commitment to conservation and my belief in the power of nature to restore, revitalise and heal. I try to make my treatments as sustainable as possible and use a background sound of natural birdsong during treatments to help clients relax and feel closer to the natural world.
